The Shatgumbad or Shatgombuj or Sixty Dome Mosque is located in the Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. The mosque was constructed in the mid-15th century by Ulugh Khan Jahan, the ruler of the Sundarbans who was from Turkey. The construction of the mosque was started in 1442 and it was completed in 1459. Made from baked brick this significant monument is decorated with terracotta artwork and is the largest of all Bengal Sultanate mosques in Bangladesh.
